Edwin M Knowles

In 1900, Edwin M. Knowles founded the Edwin M. Knowles China Company. The company’s offices were located in East Liverpool, Ohio. The plant was in Chester, West Virginia. Knowles’ goal was to manufacture the highest quality semi-vitreous china ware. Products included dinnerware, kitchenware, specialties, and toilet wares.

In 1913, the company opened a new plant in Newell, West Virginia. In the early 1930s, Knowles employed over 700 workers. The firm consolidated production at its Newell facility.
